Andrew Levy, Managing Director

Andrew Levy, Co-Managing Director

Andrew Levy first discovered the potential of the internet whilst pursuing a journalism degree at the University of Michigan in 1991, by using a "borrowed" IRC account to chat in real time with students in the Middle East during the Gulf War.

Having lived through the GOPHER era, he first experienced the web via a 9600bps dialup connection in 1994. Whilst working as an Art Director for a trade magazine in New York, a friend explained the similarities between Quark XPress tags and HTML. He went out and bought a book on HTML and suddenly he was a webmaster.

From 1995-1996, Andrew worked as Production Manager and then Technical Products Manager for Advance Internet in New Jersey. During a week's visit to San Francisco, he realised he was absolutely nuts to be working on the web in Jersey City, packed up the car, and moved out West.

Andrew spent five years at Yahoo!, based in both California and in London. He worked on the launches of the Netscape Guide by Yahoo! and Yahoo! Online, and was the launch producer for Yahoo! Shopping operating out of Yahoo's Santa Clara headquarters. Following this, he moved to London to manage e-commerce properties for Yahoo! Europe, including Yahoo! Shopping and local directory products like maps and Yellow Pages.

During 2003, Andrew took a year off to pursue his passion for cooking, earning the Grand Diplome de Cuisine et Patisserie from the Ecole Cordon Bleu in Paris.

Since 2004, Andrew has been splitting his time between his Messy duties, and providing internet consulting services to diverse clients such as The Office of Tony Blair, SUP (parent of LiveJournal), Crowdstorm, and TrustedPlaces.
