About MessyMedia

MessyMedia was launched by Lloyd Shepherd and Andrew Levy in September 2007. Our aim, simply, is to develop online media experiences for a British audience.

As two ex-journalists with a decade of online experience, we're excited about the opportunities to develop new editorial platforms online. We believe the emergence of cheap content management and audience measurement tools alongside distributed advertising platforms is bringing in a new era of publishing. Just as desktop publishing wrought a new era in magazine publishing, these new online tools have created a new space for publishing online. This new era will be marked by innovations in journalism, design, commercial packaging and reader engagement. We want to be part of that new era.

Our manifesto, such as it is, is simply this: to launch online media which excites us, and which is marked by a high standard of writing, design and commercial proposition. We also want to give ourselves the space to try things out. As the cost of launching new websites continues to collapse, we believe we're entering an era of experimentation. We're going to be throwing a lot of spaghetti at a lot of walls.

To start with, we've got some blogs we want to launch. We're calling them "blogs" because they're going to be running on blog software, they're going to have reader comments on them, and the most recent story is going to be at the top. But we believe there's a clear opportunity in Britain to use the blogging format to do proper journalism - to entertain and inform. Proper design, professional editorial development and a serious commercial proposition are all part of that.

We'll be announcing new launches and new ideas on this site. But if you're a writer who wants to write, or a developer who wants to try an idea, or a brand who wants to reach an audience, get in touch with us on our contacts page.
